The Evergreen Selected as Finalist in National Competition

The Evergreen, our independent, student-run news organization, has been named a Crown Award Finalist by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. The publication will receive either a Gold or Silver Crown Award during a special presentation at Columbia University in New York City on March 21, 2025.

This is a big accomplishment as CSPA’s Board of Judges selected only 202 finalists from 540 entries submitted from across the country and around the world. It was noted that staff member exemplifies the type of journalism and storytelling that CSPA is proud to recognize and feature during its annual awards program.

Websites, newspapers, magazines, and yearbooks that were published during the 2023–2024 academic year were eligible for judging in the 2025 Crown Awards program. From September to November 2024, Crown entries were judged by scholastic and professional media experts.

The Evergreen staff is invited to receive their award at the Awards Convocation during CSPA’s 101st Annual Spring Convention, held on the University’s campus in New York City.
