Athletics Administration
Jarrett Shine
Head of Athletics & Physical Education

Jarrett Shine came to Greenhill in 2019. He earned his BA in math and economics from Lafayette College. During his collegiate years, he was a four-year starter and captain of the football team. He coached multiple sports before becoming a head football coach at Brunswick School for over a decade. As head coach, he steered teams to numerous championships and etched his name in the history books with the most championship appearances as an assistant and head coach in school history.
Teressa Thomas
Associate Head of Athletics

Teressa Thomas joined the Greenhill Athletics Department in 2018. She earned her BA in broadcast/journalism from Northwestern State University, where she was a member of the women's basketball team and achieved recognition in their Hall of Fame and had her jersey number retired. Preceding her role at Greenhill, Teressa garnered coaching experience in basketball across Louisiana, Indiana, and Texas and held positions in athletics administration at various educational institutions.
John Rortvedt

John Rortvedt started working at Greenhill School in 2015. He attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a BS in sports management. He began working in youth sports at the Park Cities YMCA overseeing all sports programing. He served as the Greenhill Athletic Office Coordinator role for a year before he started coaching within the PS/LS along with coaching MS Football and MS B-Tennis teams. He has also been involved in overseeing the logistics within our HSA and Sports Center operations. In the summer, you can find him as the SOTH Sports Director.
Izayah Donnelly

Izayah Donnelly joined Greenhill School in 2022 after holding the Executive Assistant position for the Missouri State High School Activities Association. He played two years of collegiate basketball at Benedictine University – Springfield, IL. Due to school closure, he transferred to William Woods University where he received a BS in communications, an M.Ed. in athletic administration, and an MA in organizational leadership. He is also a Registered Athletic Administrator through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.

Tatiane Deibert
Girls Volleyball Coach

Tatiane Deibert started coaching at Greenhill in 2010. The Brazilian native spent a lot of her volleyball years playing at the club, national, and professional levels in her home country. She transferred to the United States to finish her student-athlete career at John Brown University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science. After graduation, she started coaching at Arkansas Tech University for three seasons while she earned her master’s degree in elementary/secondary physical education. After that, she spent one season as an assistant coach at Northwestern State University before starting her high school-level coaching career.
Nate Griggs ’09
Boys Volleyball Coach

Nate Griggs ’09 was named head coach in 2021. He previously served as an assistant coach of the boys volleyball program for eight years where he helped coach the team to two SPC Championships. As a player, he continued his decorated high school career at Greenhill, which included winning SPC in 2008, at Santa Clara University competing across the state of California. Upon returning to Dallas, he spent time coaching in the local boys club scene before fully committing to the Greenhill coaching staff.
Brittany Hawkins
Field Hockey Coach

Brittany Hawkins started coaching at Greenhill in 2024. Previously, she was a Varsity Field Hockey Assistant Coach and Physical Education/Athletics Fellow at Phillips Exeter Academy; an Assistant Field Hockey Coach and Graduate Assistant at Eastern University; a Varsity Field Hockey Assistant Coach and Athletic Administration Intern at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School; an Athletic Administrative Assistant, Varsity Lacrosse Coach, Assistant Varsity Field Hockey Coach at Awty International School; and a Program Field Hockey Head and Lower School PE Instructor at St. Francis Episcopal School. Her athletic accolades include being a four-year starter at Gordon College; a CCC 2013 Champion; being third in program history for total points, goals, and assists; and earning the CCC offensive player award and Gordon College Athlete of the week award.
KJ Williams
Football Coach

KJ Williams started coaching at Greenhill in 2023. An alumnus of Texas A&M University and Sam Houston State, he has coached at the University of Texas, SMU, and Sam Houston State. Prior to Greenhill, he spent four years at Nolan Catholic where he served as head football coach for two years. During his time there, he led the Vikings to the state semi-finals and a state championship game. Prior to Nolan Catholic, he served as the strength and conditioning coach and assistant head coach at Bishop Lynch where he helped lead the team to a trip to the state championship game in 2019 and a trip to the state semi-finals in 2018.
Jason Yaffe
Cross Country Coach

Jason Yaffe was named head coach of the cross country teams in 2013 and has been coaching at Greenhill since 2001. After graduating from Bates College, where he was a four-year varsity runner on the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams, he started coaching at Culver Academies in Indiana. From there he taught and coached at Kentucky Country Day School and William Penn Charter School. Most of his time in independent schools has been at Greenhill. He served under mentor Tom Holodak on the Hill, playing a role in the School’s first SPC track and field titles in 1999. Since then, he has coached countless Hornets, whether they were finishing their first 5K or winning multiple national championships such as Chelsey Birgisdóttir.

Mustang Cheer and its coaching staff have successfully led Highland Park's cheer program for several years and have extensive experience coaching numerous schools in the Dallas area. Beyond offering top-notch cheer training, Mustang Cheer is committed to fostering a positive team environment, building up athletes, and creating lasting memories for their high school teams. Greenhill benefits from a variety of coaches provided by Mustang Cheer, with specific coaches dedicated to our program for consistency.

Paul Field
Boys Soccer Coach

Paul Field became the head coach of the boys varsity soccer team in 2022. Over the past seven years, he has headed up the Middle School boys soccer team and Lower School Hornet soccer program. He also completed a four-year stint as the school’s Athletic Department Coordinator before moving into his current role as Head Soccer Coach and PE Coach. Born and raised in the U.K., Field enjoyed a distinguished playing career at youth levels before graduating from Leeds Beckett University with a degree in physical education.
Laura Flanagan
Girls Soccer Coach

Laura Flanagan became the head coach of the girls varsity soccer team in 2019 and has been teaching at Greenhill since 2002. Prior to her head coaching role, she served as one of two assistant varsity coaches. She is a graduate of SMU where she earned a degree in broadcast journalism and was a four-year starter and letter winner as a midfielder and forward for the Mustangs. Her and team made it to the Sweet 16 her senior year. She also coached for the Sting Soccer Club of Dallas for four years.
Patti Monzingo
Swimming Coach

Patti Monzingo has coached at Greenhill since 2008 and became the head coach of the swimming teams in 2015. After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in communications, she came back to her love of swimming, after a stint in the world of advertising. She has coached and taught swimming for more than 20 years. Having been a competitive swimmer since the age of six, she brings a vast background of swimming knowledge, coaching, and teaching to Greenhill. Outside of Greenhill, she has operated a swim school, the School of Fish Swim School, during the spring and summer months for 21 years.
Darryn Sandler ’95
Girls Basketball Coach

Darryn Sandler '95 has been the head coach of the girls varsity basketball team since 2003. A graduate of Greenhill (Class of 1995), he was a three-sport athlete playing volleyball, basketball, and baseball. After graduating from Georgetown, he returned to Greenhill as a teaching intern and three-sport coach, before taking a position as an Upper School math teacher. At Greenhill, he coached the girls volleyball program for 15 years, the baseball program for 12 years, and the basketball program for 25 years (four as the freshman boys coach before taking over the girls’ program). In addition to coaching, he currently serves as the Chair of the Upper School Math Department.
Joey Sims

Joey Sims has been the head coach of the boys basketball team since 2014. A graduate of Texas Tech University, he has more than 25 years of teaching and spent more than 15 years coaching in public schools including Birdville ISD, Bovina ISD, Aledo ISD, Arlington ISD, and Como-Pickton ISD. He also teaches physical education courses at Greenhill.

Spring Season Head Varsity Coaches
Scott Cotton
Boys Tennis Coach

Scott Cotton was named the head coach of the boys tennis team in 2017 and has been coaching at Greenhill since 2004. He attended Georgia Tech on a full athletic scholarship, earned all-ACC honors, and was ranked in the top 20 in NCAA doubles competition. He earned a BS in International Affairs. Since joining the Greenhill community, he has been an Upper School history teacher and tennis coach. During his tenure as head and assistant coach, Greenhill boys tennis has won nine SPC championships and prepared many players for DI/DIII tennis careers.
Troy Haugen
Baseball Coach
Troy Haugen has been the head baseball coach since 2016 and coaching since 2008. He was a three-year starter at Oregon State University at shortstop and second base. He earned All-PAC 10 all conference honors as a player while achieving a BS in exercise science. After his senior season at Oregon State, he signed a professional contract to play with the Milwaukee Brewers organization. His professional career lasted three and a half years before retiring due to a series of shoulder and arm injuries. Since he arrived at Greenhill, the baseball program has made the SPC State championships six years and has recorded the highest state finish in school history.
Hayley Herman
Girls Tennis Coach

Hayley Herman became the head girls tennis coach in 2023 after serving as the assistant coach for the girls varsity tennis team. She was a collegiate athlete and holds a BA in radio-television-film from the University of Texas. Before Greenhill, she coached youth and beginner-level tennis at Hackberry Creek Country Club in Irving. While the assistant coach, the girls tennis team receiving runner-up in the 2021 and 2022 SPC Championships, and in 2023, the team came in third place.
Stacey Johnson
Track & Field Coach

Stacey Johnson became the head boys and girl track and field coach in 2003 and started at Greenhill in 2000. He received his BA in physical education and history and MA in teaching degree from Austin College. During his time at Greenhill, he has been a part of 11 SPC Championship-winning programs – nine in girls track and field, one in boys track and field, and one in football. In his time as the track and field coach, school records have been broken in 26 of the 34 events. Four athletes he coached currently hold SPC conference records. He also serves as the Department Chair for Physical Education for Middle School and Upper School.
Rich Moses
Boys Lacrosse Coach

Rich Moses was named the head coach of the boys lacrosse team after spending a season running the offense. Before Greenhill, he was at Highland Park for 13 years where he was the head coach and Program Director from 2017 to 2022. He was the Div. 2 North Assistant Coach of the Year in 2015, the Texas High School Lacrosse Person of the Year in 2016, and Class C North Assistant Coach of the Year in 2023. He is a graduate of Hobart College where he played on three National Championship teams.
Monica Stephens
Softball Coach

Monica Stephens has been the head softball coach since 2012 and has been coaching for more than 15 years. She played volleyball and softball at Galveston Jr. College. She continued her career playing softball at Tarleton State University where she earned all-conference and all-American honors. She graduated with a BS in exercise and sports studies. After graduation, she played two years professionally in the NPF (Texas Thunder) and the PFX Tour. After finishing her playing career, she coached at Fort Worth North Side and White Settlement Brewer before landing at Greenhill. She also coaches Middle School volleyball.
Will Turbyne
Head of Golf/Boys' Golf Coach

Will Turbyne began coaching the Hornets’ boys golf team in 2024, and has been a Greenhill faculty member since 2020. With over 40 years of playing experience, his coaching emphasizes how golf reflects the school’s core values – integrity, courage, compassion, and excellence. As a former student-athlete, Turbyne understands the pivotal role athletics play in shaping well-rounded students. In addition to leading the golf program, he teaches tech theater and woodworking electives in the Middle School and Upper School.
Katherine Zarembski
Girls Lacrosse Coach

Katherine Zarembski was named head coach in 2024 and has been a sports performance coach since 2022. She graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. While there, she played two years of Division II lacrosse as both a midfielder and a defender. Shortly after graduating, she became CSCS certified by the NSCA and found a job as an assistant lacrosse coach at her high school. She moved to Texas in 2022 and has been at Greenhill ever since. She is very excited to be at Greenhill where she gets to pursue both strength coaching and lacrosse.

Jessen Houston
Director of Sports Performance

Jessen Houston has been at Greenhill since 2018. He was a three-sport athlete who ran college track. After four years in the United States Navy, serving in the Washington, D.C. Ceremonial Guard and the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, he studied athletic training and exercise science at UNC-Charlotte (now Charlotte). He began a career in strength and conditioning and sports medicine at Providence Day School and later completed graduate studies for sports nutrition at Winthrop University. He is a licensed and certified registered dietitian, athletic trainer, and strength coach with more than 18 years of experience in strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and sports nutrition.
Ramiro Mendez

Ramiro Mendez has been a sports performance coach since 2020. He earned a bachelor's degree and master’s in kinesiology from East Texas Baptist University. Shortly after receiving his master’s, he became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA. He previously worked in the private sector of sports performance in Dallas with youth athletes as well as college track and field, and college baseball. At Greenhill, he primarily works with cross country, cheer, girls soccer, girls lacrosse, and boys tennis teams. He also teaches US physical education.
Katherine Zarembski

Katherine Zarembski has been a sports performance coach since 2022 and was named the head coach of Greenhill's girls varsity lacorsse team in 2024. Nicholas Saldivar
Director of Sports Medicine

Nicholas came to Greenhill as the Director of Sports Medicine in 2024. He earned his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from the University of Texas at Austin and postgraduate degree from Houston Methodist's athletic training clinical residency in Sugar Land, Texas, which focused on manual therapy and orthopedic rehabilitation. He's had experience in a variety of settings, from high school and college, to clinical, to professional basketball, baseball and soccer. He was a member of the San Antonio Spurs medical staff en route to the NBA Finals championship in 2014. He is a licensed and certified athletic trainer as well as corrective and performance enhancement specialists.
Aliki Pappas
Athletic Trainer

Aliki Pappas joined the Greenhill sports medicine team in 2022. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in athletic training and a coaching certificate. In her time with the Longhorns, she worked for the football and swim and dive teams. She received her master’s in kinesiology, sports management from The Ohio State University. While there, she interned for the strength and conditioning department working with the men's basketball, men's ice hockey, and women's cheer teams. She is a nationally certified athletic trainer (ATC), a Texas licensed athletic trainer (LAT), and a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES).
