Sports Performance
The Sports Performance team offers our student-athletes the opportunity to enhance their skills, fitness, and overall performance while building their confidence. The goal is to help our student-athletes reach their highest potential and develop lifelong habits around health, fitness, and wellness.
Our Sports Performance team builds long-term athletic development programs that are age and skill-appropriate related to team and student needs to improve fitness, wellness, and athletic performance.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Our Middle School sports performance programming provides students access to qualified professionals who will increase the literacy of physical activity through exercise and strengthening techniques. Additionally, students will gain insight into setting and developing age-appropriate goals to improve their health and athleticism.
Middle School students have the opportunity to work with our sports performance team while they are in season with their respective teams, during the two weeks of May sports performance camp, and over the summer. Learn more about our Middle School programming here.
PRE-SEASON
Pre-season training can be defined as the preparatory phase most proximal to the upcoming season. This section of the comprehensive season incorporates initial assessments of the components of fitness, goal setting, and introductory orientation to strength and conditioning programming.
Because game time scheduling doesn’t play a role in weekly sports performance sessions, this is an opportune time to incorporate functional movement patterns, hypertrophy, strength, power, coordination, balance, endurance and strength capacity, sport specificity, weight & body composition goals. Time investment, frequency, and volume are generally high during this phase.
IN-SEASON
In-season training can be defined as the phase of training where maintenance of performance gains is strategized along with injury-preventative recovery measures. Due to the in-season game schedule prioritizing the time commitments, this is typically the phase when frequency and volume are lowest to accommodate proper recovery methodologies.
POST-SEASON
Post-season training can be defined as the preparatory phase a few weeks after the end of a sporting season, leading into pre-season training with adequate rest periods. This season incorporates recovery and complete rest after the competitive season schedule.
Similar to our pre-season, this is an opportune time to restructure/adjust any or all performance goals. This season in general provides for the most allotment of time that coincides with increased time investment, progressions, frequency, and volume to those goals.
Sports Medicine
Our athletic trainers are integral to our commitment to our students’ safety and success. With decades of experience, our two full-time certified athletic trainers work in cooperation with physicians and other allied health personnel to provide the best treatment for each Greenhill student-athlete.
Sports Nutrition
Our sports nutrition programs provide education on nutrient-dense meals and snacks, related to individualized needs. With group lectures, informatics, and one-on-one counseling, we aim to increase literacy on the importance of healthy eating habits around performance and chronic disease prevention. In addition, nutrient-dense meal options are available to junior varsity and varsity teams. These programs are provided and managed by a registered and licensed dietitian.
