In class, on the field, and on the stage, we treat students as growing, complex individuals. The Greenhill community nourishes and motivates our students to find their passion and pursue it fully. We create a community that fosters creativity, individualism, and hard work.
Preschool and Lower School students learn and grow during the day – and after! Students may continue to build skills in Extend & Explore classes such as coding, magic, or science. They may also stay after school in Extended Day, where they can play with their friends, start on homework, or unwind on the playground. In fourth-grade, students may also join the Lower School Choir, bolstering their singing and performing skills!
Middle School students are leaders. They join Student Advisory Boards to bring innovative service to the community by greeting guests and leading tours, consulting on academic policy, and promoting the arts. They create clubs that forge connections across grades, and they work to alleviate food insecurity in our city. They confidently make choices and speak up, and their ideas enrich the community.
Upper School students lead, support, and learn from each other. Student advisory boards in arts, athletics, and community service encourage participation, build school spirit, and give back to the community. The Student Council and Honor Council offer valuable leadership skills, and groups like Hope Squad and Peer Mentors offer meaningful peer support. Students may join myriad clubs and affinity groups, giving each person a place to build community.
Our Activites
Clubs
Greenhill’s clubs and activities empower students to explore their interests, provide leadership opportunities, and build social skills while enhancing their student life.
Greenhill students work hard throughout the day, and it is important that they have nutritious, tasty food options to help them learn and grow. Greenhill School partners with SAGE Dining Services to offer a premier dining experience for our community.
In keeping with the school’s core values, Greenhill students experience and learn about different community needs through service learning. Greenhill takes community service to the next level by providing service learning.
Extended Day and Extend & Explore Classes (Pre-K – Grade 8)
For more than 30 years, our Extended Day program has provided a safe and fun environment for Greenhill students to play – a place where play encourages children to make friends, share thoughts and ideas, or spend time with caring adults.
Our after-school Extend & Explore classes allow our Preschool and Lower School students to grow, learning skills such as coding, magic, or science.
Heart of the Hill Groups are small groups of students and faculty from different division who meet regularly on campus. They enjoy doing projects that provide service to the School and outside communities along with teach, celebrate, and perpetuate the School's rich history.
Heart of the Hill Groups remain the same year after year, with graduates “replaced” by new Preschool students. These groups help students of all ages get to know one another.
Traditions play a crucial role in strengthening the Greenhill community and enhancing student life. We value our time-honored practices and look to establish new ones that cultivate community, pride, and school spirit.
Founder's Day
The entire school gathers on this special day to honor and commemorate our beginnings through songs, service, and community.
Water Tower Painting
In this prank-turned-tradition, seniors paint Greenhill’s Water Tower to leave their mark and kick-off their last year at Greenhill.
Rocket Day
Each spring, our fourth-graders put their STEM skills to the test as they design and launch their own rockets. They aim for the stars and compete to see whose rocket can go the farthest!
Music on the Quad
Every fall and spring, students enjoy diverse professional music performances on the quad during their lunch.
Greek Day
Studies of ancient Greece culminate in a fifth-grade student-directed, grade-level performance and a feast of epic proportions.
Homecoming
A pep rally, community dinner, athletic competitions, and traditional Senior class sweatshirts celebrate Greenhill's past and present.
Greenhill Goes Global
Families educate our young students about their cultures and countries with performances, food, and educational booths.
Halloween Parade
Greenhill seniors lead our Preschool and Lower School students in a campus costume parade for the community to enjoy.
Pet Day
First-grade students hone their writing and presentation skills on Pet Day as they introduce their furry, feathered, or scaled friends to their peers.
Chili Cook Off
Our second-graders end their Texas unit with a chili cook-off. They encourage campus guests to taste their chili, and they count votes at the end of the day to determine the tastiest chili!
Color Wars
This friendly Upper School class rivalry includes competitions like grade-level tug-of-war, relay races, lip sync battles, and competitive pie eating.
