Third-Grade Student Recognized in Art Competitions

Congratulations to Hanyi Lu for earning honors for his artwork in the I Am Texas contest and the State Fair of Texas’s Creative Arts competition.

Greenhill student Hanyi Lu ’34 has continued to hone his artistic skills and was recognized in two competitions this month.

I Am Texas Contest
Hanyi received an Honorable Mention in Elementary School Art in the 2024 I Am Texas writing and art contest hosted by The Bryan Museum in Galveston. His artwork is titled "Window with a View,” and is on display at the museum until November 24.

The contest, open to grades 2-12, began in 2022 when The Bryan Museum and the iWrite literacy organization in Houston joined forces to publish 1,000 student writers and artists in the Guinness World Record breaking the largest book in the world. Since then, the contest has continued to expand across the state.

State Fair of Texas Creative Arts Contest
Hanyi also received first place in the State Fair of Texas’s Creative Arts competition. He earned a blue ribbon in the fine art category (any subject) for ages 5 to 9 or younger. His artwork was displayed during the fair this month.

Last year, he earned first place in the any subject category for his age range as well.
