Quiz Bowl Students Start 2025 with a Victory
Congratulations to the Middle and Upper School students who competed at the Cistercian High School Spring Invitational last weekend.
On January 18, four Greenhill Quiz Bowl teams competed in the first Dallas-Area high school Quiz Bowl tournament of 2025. The competition was hosted by Cistercian Preparatory School and held at St. Rita Catholic School. Greenhill A – Ayan Thombre ’26, Henry Lipnik ’27, and Tomal Khan ’28 – had a fantastic performance in the Varsity division, making the top bracket of the playoffs. In the playoffs, they comfortably defeated St. Mark’s School of Texas B and then St. Mark’s School of Texas A to take first place! They finished with a near-perfect record of 10-1. Greenhill D – Itamar Friedman ’25, Mayer Sidikaro ’25, Garrett Koerner ’25, and Tal Rogozinski ’25 – went 2-8 in the JV division, getting two wins of revenge over Hockaday after suffering a controversial loss to the Daisies during the Greenhill Fall Invitational. Greenhill B – Blake Clark ’29, Cameron Dawson ’30, Colin Houpt ’29, and Adam Tawil ’29 – and Greenhill C – Ella Bogdanow ’31, Beck Fuller ’30, Aarav Mehta ’29, and Carson Yoo ’30 – finished seventh and ninth in the Varsity division. Greenhill B scored the only win against the eventual champions. It was a solid showing all around for these Middle School students who were competing against mostly high school students. For the tournament, Tomal Khan ’28 led the field overall with an astounding 87.22 points per game, and Ayan Thombre ’26 was the sixth-overall scorer with 53.33. Congratulations to these players! |
