Greenhill Senior Signs National Letter of Intent to Lafayette

Greenhill senior Auston Evans signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to continue his basketball career at Lafayette College, a member of the Patriot League.A three-time All-Southwest Preparatory Conference selection, Evans became the first Greenhill boys basketball player to sign a National Letter of Intent to attend a Division I institution. The 6-6 shooting guard also played for Texas Select during his AAU prep career. Evans will join head coach Fran O'Hanlon in the Fall of 2015.In addition to Evans' signing, the Hornets also had a pair of student-athletes commit to Ivy League schools in Hayley Isenberg (Girls Basketball, Harvard) and Reed Russ (Boys Golf, Dartmouth).A two-time All-SPC award winner, Isenberg became the first player in Greenhill history to earn Texas Large Private School Player of the Year accolades to go along with a selection to the TABC All-State Team.The Greenhill forward led the Hornets to a 21-3 overall record, including a perfect 8-0 record in Southwest Preparatory Conference action. In addition, Isenberg led the Hornets to their first SPC Championship since the 1999 season. This past season, Isenberg averaged a double-double with 16.3 points and 12.4 rebounds per game and was among the team leaders in assists (4.5 per game) and blocked shots (4.0 per game). The Greenhill forward recorded a double-digit scoring performance in 22 of 24 games this past season. Isenberg will join Kathy Delaney-Smith's program in the Fall of 2015.Russ earned All-SPC honors during freshman campaign and garnered team MVP honors for the Hornets on two occasions. The Greenhill senior participated in the 2012 Red River Challenge: Team Texas vs. Team Oklahoma, which featured 24 of the top-ranked junior golfers in both states. Russ earned a spot on Team Texas after capturing the TJGT TPC Craig Ranch Major that summer. In addition, Russ has also finished fifth overall at the DFW Major Championships held at The Golf Club of Dallas during his amateur career.
