Congratulations to the Faculty Leaders of 2014-2015

Our parent community had the treat of hearing from our Faculty Leaders at the PA meeting on Tuesday, September 23. Our Faculty Leaders are, in alphabetical order, Greg Browne-Nichols, PK teacher; Genie Burke, US history teacher; and Nicholas Park, US Science teacher.

Each teacher spoke to parents about what has influenced and motivated them in the teaching profession.

Mr. Browne-Nichols spoke about his close relationship with one influential teacher who picked him up during hard times, encouraged him to foster his love of drama, stay true to himself, challenge himself, and ultimately choose Kenyon College to help shape him into who he is today. He is tremendously grateful for the influence of that teacher and hopes to be that person for others in the future.

Ms. Burke spoke about finding her calling toward teaching by giving swimming lessons from the young age of 17. She went against her family wishes of becoming a lawyer, and knew that she wanted to pursue teaching. She later learned that concentrating in the classroom was just one facet of teaching; just as important was being a member of an enriching and supportive community.

Mr. Park spoke about the joys of teaching and how he gets to “witness magic” every day seeing the light turn on in the young peoples’ minds. Also a father of seven small children, he doesn’t take his responsibility lightly. He looks forward every day to the immense responsibility of guiding young people, imparting his knowledge to others, passing on potential and possibility into the future.

Congratulations to our faculty leaders! We are grateful for all you do for the students of Greenhill School.
