Greenhill Student Captures Top-10 Finish at Synchronized Swimming Nationals

A Greenhill School student finished in the top-10 at the 2014 U.S. eSynchro Age Group Synchronized Swimming Championships.

Alisha Nathani - a long-time member of the Pirouettes of Texas (PTX) synchronized swimming club – teamed up with sisters Katina and Valeria Aceves of Southlake to place tenth in the 18-19 trio event. Nearly 1,000 athletes ages 11-19 competed in the meet held June 27-July 5 in Federal Way, which is near Seattle.

“The trio had great synchronization and energy, and the judges were all smiles watching them swim to Shakira music,” said Medley Butterfield, PTX head coach. “Alisha has really improved this year, and as a thirteen-year-old, she stepped up her game to swim in an older age group."

Nathani later joined the Aceves sisters and five other teammates to finish 13th in the 18-19 team event - a fun performance to Michael Jackson tunes that, per Butterfield, "earned several compliments from the other coaches."

To become eligible for Nationals, PTX competed against six other Texas teams at the Region C Championship in San Antonio in April, where they finished second overall and Nathani placed first in 18-19 trio, first in 18-19 team, and third in 13-15 solo to advance.
